Lymphocyte signaling: Adapting new adaptors
نویسنده
چکیده
New developments in lymphocyte signaling have revealed insights into the proximal phosphorylation events associated with the T-cell receptor and into the importance of the T-cell adaptor protein Slp-76 and its B-cell homolog in the transduction of the signal from the antigen receptor.

SLAM Family Receptors Regulate Immunity with and without SAP-related Adaptors
Two papers describing mice deficient in signaling lymphocyte activation molecule and 2B4 represent the first accounts of immune phenotypes in animals lacking members of the SLAM family of receptors. The findings provide definitive evidence of the importance of SLAM-related receptors in the regulation of T cell, macrophage, and natural killer cell functions.
متن کاملDynamically Adapting the Behaviour of Software Components
Available component-oriented platforms address software interoperability only at the signature level, while they do not provide suitable mechanisms for adapting components with mismatching interaction behaviour. This paper presents a methodology for automatically developing adaptors capable of solving behaviour mismatches between heterogeneous components. These adaptors are generated from abstr...
متن کاملPerceived contrast following adaptation to gratings of different orientations
Using a contrast matching procedure, we measured the perceived contrast of vertical test gratings after adapting to other gratings of either vertical or horizontal orientation. The results show that both parallel and orthogonal adapting gratings reduce perceived contrast and do so proportionally more at low test contrasts than at high. The results are consistent with a single mechanism model pr...
متن کاملRedirecting tyrosine kinase signaling to an apoptotic caspase pathway through chimeric adaptor proteins.
Signal transduction pathways are typically controlled by protein-protein interactions, which are mediated by specific modular domains. One hypothetical use of such interaction domains is to generate new signaling pathways and networks during eukaryotic evolution, through the joining of distinct binding modules in novel combinations. In this manner, new polypeptides may be formed that make innov...
متن کاملThe related adaptors, adaptor in lymphocytes of unknown function X and Rlk/Itk-binding protein, have nonredundant functions in lymphocytes.
Adaptors play a critical role in regulating signaling pathways that control lymphocyte development and activation. Adaptor in lymphocytes of unknown function X (ALX) and Rlk/Itk-binding protein (RIBP) are adaptors related by structure and sequence, coexpressed in T cells. Mice deficient for each adaptor demonstrated that ALX and RIBP, respectively, negatively and positively regulate T cell acti...
